Riviera Maya Golf Club

The Riviera Maya Golf Club features 2 courses: an 18-hole and a 9-hole. The courses were cut out from a limestone quarry, and are spread out over the dense jungle of Mexico's Caribbean coast. The course is home to many of the natural features that make Mexico's eastern coast special, including their cenote's -- the spectacular sinkholes collapsed from the underlying limestone bedrock.

Robert Trent Jones II designed this golf course. The 27 holes here measure out to 7272 yards.

Unlike most other courses in the Mayan Riviera, which are generally fairly flat, this course achieves a surprising amount of elevation change. While the terrain on the front 9 is more gentle, the back 9 experiences the bulk of the elevation shifts. The back 9 is also where the vegetation becomes more mature, and where golfers can enjoy the course's cenote's.

If your highest skill isn't putting, arrive a slight bit before your game is scheduled to start to get in some practice time. Luckily, this course does have a practice putting green for guests to use. Newbies or even professionals who are working on their swing could spend some time at the driving range found here.
